My Apology – Unity is a mystery, not a straight jacket.

I am writing this post to apologize to any of you that I might have hurt when I blogged regarding the election Saturday morning. I am technologically challenged. And should have known this would go viral. But I ignorantly did not. So I am very sorry that I hurt any of you. You are precious.

The second thing I want to apologize for is leaving the impression that I speak for you or that my blog represents the views of any of you, in or outside my church. I have been at Lake Highlands Church for 6 election cycles. Never have I used the pulpit, a class, a home group or even one on one to tell people who to vote for or even to suggest who the better option is. You need to keep this in mind as you deal with your emotions. I have great respect for the individual conscience of every believer. I was not targeting my church Lake Highlands or any individuals at all. All are free to disagree with me and your view is just as good as mine. Sometimes better. This church, my family, the people I have given my life to, are at Lake Highlands and they are of utmost value.

People outside Lake Highlands ask me all sorts of questions all the time about many subjects and I say this is my view, but it does not represent my church Lake Highlands. We have a rich diversity of views among disciples there. I respect that and I cherish that. I am very sorry I left the impression that I spoke for you on Saturday.

My moral and spiritual outrage toward one presidential candidate led to a flood of words that expressed my convictions and still do. Some think what I wrote was prophetic. Others think it was more like demonic. So we disagree. But Jesus is Lord and we are one. Unity is a mystery-not a straight jacket.

Again, I am very sorry I left the impression I speak for you. It was wrong.

The last thing I want to clear from the first blog post on these issues last week is that I do believe life begins at conception. I do support the repeal of Roe vs. Wade but I also believe there are other issues that are of fundamental importance in addition to abortion.

Make no mistake about it I will be speaking what I discern in the Spirit in the days ahead, but I will frame it in a wiser way while still declaring what I see. For those of you, and there are many that thought all three blogs were the best thing since sliced bread, we are all called now to pray daily for Donald Trump, even before he becomes President. In the days ahead I will be speaking on the blog what I believe God gives me to say, but I will be wiser, more circumspect, more aware of you and your conscience and sensibilities. In the days ahead I will continue reading both sides of theological, justice, and political issues. I hope you will do the same.

But I know this, ”If I speak the most sublime of truths and nail the justice issues with precision but have not love I am just another angry blogger-a veritable clanging symbol.”

I love all of you.
Jim
